TENEX-Japan strongly believes in the prospects of the development of the nuclear industry in Japan as a CO2 emission–free and reliable energy source. According to the 5th Strategic Energy Plan formulated by the Government of Japan, the share of nuclear power in the country’s power generation mix is expected to be around 20–22% by the year 2030. At the same time, the back-end sector (decommissioning of aged nuclear power plants, decontamination of Fukushima-Daiichi NPP, and reprocessing of spent fuel) in Japan is likely to continue growing as more reactors are being retired. These factors allow TENEX-Japan to maintain sustainable business development in the long term and strengthen cooperation between Japan and Russia in many areas of nuclear industry operations.
